Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of vitamin C, potassium, fiber, and beta carotene. They also contain antioxidants that fight cancer and heart disease.

Here’s how to cook them up right.

You can use sweet potatoes in so many ways. They make a delicious baked potato, mashed with butter and sour cream, or roasted in the oven. They can be used in place of regular potatoes when making hash browns or French fries. Or, try adding them to soups, stews, casseroles, salads, and more.

Roast sweet potato wedges with olive oil and salt.

To roast sweet potatoes, preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Cut off both ends of each sweet potato, then cut into 1/2-inch slices. Place the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Bake until tender, 20 to 30 minutes.

Add spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder.

Roasted sweet potatoes make an excellent side dish or even a hearty meal. Try them roasted alongside chicken or beef, or serve them as a vegetarian option.

Bake at 204 degrees C until tender.

If you’ve never cooked with sweet potato before, here’s how to do it right.

Serve with butter and maple syrup.
