Bay leaf

Bay leaves are used in many different types of cooking, especially Mediterranean cuisine. They’re often added to soups and stews, and can be found in spice blends.

Here’s how to make bay leaf at home.

To make bay leaf tea, simply steep one teaspoon of dried bay leaves in hot water for five minutes. You can use either fresh or dried bay leaves. If you prefer, you can substitute other herbs such as mint, rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage, or basil.

Buy Fresh leaf.

Fresh bay leaves are more flavorful than dried ones. They should be pliable and dark green in color. Avoid buying bay leaves with brown spots or mold.

Boil Water.

To make bay leaf tea, boil water in a pot. Then add fresh bay leaves to the boiling water. Cover the pot and let steep for 5 minutes. Strain out the leaves and serve hot. You can use bay leaves in soups, stews, casseroles, and sauces.

Add Tea Bag.

If you prefer, you can add a tea bag instead of whole leaves. Simply place a tea bag into a cup of boiling water and cover with a lid. Let steep for 5 minutes before straining out the bag.
