Butter Lettuce

Butter lettuce known as Boston lettuce, Bibb lettuce, and romaine lettuce. It has a mild flavor that makes it perfect for adding to salads.

Choose a Good Location.
You should choose a location where you will not be disturbed by noise or other people. If possible, find an area with good lighting so you can see what you are doing.

Plant Seeds Indoors.
You can plant seeds indoors as early as six weeks before the last frost date. This gives you more control over when you harvest your lettuce.

Water Well.
If you live in an area with cold winters, you will need to protect your plants from freezing temperatures. A good rule of thumb is to water your plants every other day during the winter months.

Mulch.
You should mulch your plants so that they stay warm and dry. This helps prevent them from getting too wet when it rains. In addition, you should water your plants regularly throughout the growing season.

Pick Early.
If you pick early enough, you will be able to enjoy butter lettuce fresh out of the garden. However, if you wait until later in the season, you will need to harvest the leaves before they go to seed.
