Planting should occur in late summer or early autumn so that the roots can establish before cold weather sets in; however, some varieties may require additional protection from extreme temperatures depending on your location. Proper fertilizer will help keep your plants healthy while preventing pests like aphids from infesting them; however, if pests become an issue then insecticidal soap used as a safe alternative to chemical pesticides.
