Po ta toes

Potatoes are an excellent source of potassium, which helps maintain fluid balance in the body. They also contain vitamin C, fiber, folate, and other nutrients that promote good health.

Here’s how to cook them up right.
There are several ways to prepare potatoes. You can boil them, bake them, fry them, roast them, or mash them. If you choose to use baking, you’ll need to add some fat to the pan to make sure they brown properly.

Wash potatoes thoroughly before cooking.
To wash potatoes, cut off the ends and place them into a large pot filled with cold water. Bring the water to a boil and let it simmer until the potatoes are tender. Drain the potatoes and then put them back into the pot. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Cut potatoes into equal pieces.
If you’re looking to make mashed potatoes, simply peel the skin off the potatoes and cut them into small cubes. Put the cubed potatoes into a saucepan and cover them with cold water. Bring them to a boil and cook them until they are soft enough to mash. Drain the potatoes and add butter, milk, and salt and pepper to taste before serving.

Put potatoes in cold water with a little salt.
You can also use a potato ricer to press the cooked potatoes through a sieve. This will give you nice fluffy mashed potatoes.

Bring water to boil over high heat.
If you prefer a creamy mashed potato, add milk instead of water when cooking them.
