Glass jars also work well for pickles and relishes. Jars with lids are recommended for storing vegetables because they prevent air from getting into the jar. Plastic containers are good for storing dry goods such as cereals, pasta, rice, beans, nuts, and seeds. They are also suitable for storing meat and fish.
