Lebanese Cucumber

The name “Lebanese cucumber” comes from the French word lébanon, which was used by the British during their occupation of Lebanon.
In fact, the first written record of the term “cucumber” dates back to 1777 when it appeared in an English dictionary as a reference to the plant known today as the Lebanese cucumber. Mentioned in 1835 in a book called A Dictionary of Agriculture and Rural Economy.

In the Middle Ages, the Turks introduced the cucumber to Europe.
Today, it is one of the most popular vegetables in the world. Cultivated since ancient times in the region where it grows naturally. The name comes from its origin in Lebanon.

Today, itr is one of the world’s oldest cultivated vegetables.
In fact, the first written record dates back to 3000 BC. The ancient Egyptians were among the first people to cultivate the plant. They called it “kukh” and used it as food and medicine.

Today, it is one of the most popular vegetables in the Middle East. Known as the “Lebanese cucumber,” “cucumber de l’Orient,” and “gherkin.”

Called “the king of vegetables” because it grows so easily and thrives in poor soil.
In fact, the Lebanese cucumbers introduced into Europe by the Crusaders during the 12th century. They brought them back with them when they returned home after the First Crusade.
